You Got It Right: East Village Radio Relaunching

Your eyes do not deceive, here we are, gang. Back in full force for 2024, dozens of new and returning DJs are lined up and waiting for you all, it’s the return of East Village Radio!

East Village Radio, the influential streetfront online radio station that broadcast from 2003-2016 is still hunkering in our tiny studio behind a glass window at the front of Lil’ Frankies restauarant on First Avenue in New York’s East Village, and the lights are on. EVR opens directly onto the sidewalk, offering an almost surreal intimacy between passersby and the DJs. Famed producers like Mark Ronson and Steve Lillywhite hosted shows for several years, other DJs included Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke from The Smiths, Sylvain Sylvain from the New York Dolls. We’ve featured countless guest appearances from artists over the years — including notables Drake, Lou Reed, Amy Winehouse, and Duran Duran.

After years of dormancy, owner Frank Prisinzano and co-founder Jorge Parreira are now working with veteran program/music director Brian Turner, formerly of the iconic free-form station WFMU and now Station Manager of EVR.

In the weeks ahead you’ll be hearing the debuts of a myriad of amazing knowledgeable hosts from every spectrum of garage, punk, prog, Latin & world music, funk, jazz, ambient, post-punk, hip-hop, electronic, community discussion and miscellaneous shows coming your way. Dig into our program schedule, get to know our crew, listen to episodes you missed, check out our site for news and everything that grooves the East Village and beyond. The biggest and best little neighborhood station you loved and missed is locked and loaded! Keep eyes on our site and socials for timely news, and join us in celebrating what we’ve all been waiting for!
