Join Leslie on Sound and Vision Wednesday April 1st, 10am-Noon as she welcomes Australian power duo Chimers to the show. Like many good bands, Chimers were born out isolation. Not geographically, but via the pandemic. The pair formed the band in their Wollongong backyard during the initial lockdown of 2020. Padraic taking a giant leap forward form his past as a drummer in the vibrant Wollongong garage scene, removing himself from the backseat and assuming the role of driver; singing, playing guitar and of course, song writing. Chimers combine their love of noise pop, post-punk and garage rock. A dynamic sound of discordant guitar, off-beat drum line and brash melodic vocals. Think equal parts Mission of Burma, Wipers and all things Discord Records as direct influences. The band has picked up fans in Henry Rollins, Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto, Matador and 12XU Records great, Gerard Cosloy. Leslie and Chimers will get into the birth of the band and their influences through epic playlist they made especially for the show.
