BYG Overview on Bandcamp Radio January 19th

Monday January 19th 6-8pm ET: JEdward hones in on the majesty and legacy of the BYG label on Bandcamp Radio. Founded in France by Fernand Boruso, Jean-Luc Young and Jean Georgakarakos in the wake of 1968 student revolts, BYG established itself not only as a haven for radical free improvised music, but a place to give a home to like-minded revolutionary musicians facing similar repressions and limitations in their US homeland. In partnership with the cultural magazine Actuel, BYG’s roster expanded into a who’s who of legends: Don Cherry, Sunny Murray, Sun Ra, Archie Shepp, Clifford Thornton, Dave Burrell, Alan Silva and more. Not limited to jazz, BYG also explored the corridors of psychedelia with Terry Riley, Gong, MEV and more. Take a two hour tour of the senses with JEdward, archived hereafter.
