Friday, April 25th 4-6pm ET with Neonlichter on Playing Out of Time: The Beijing-born, New York-based composer Chamberlain Zhang works in soundtracking and immersive electroacoustic environments, focusing on the human perception of time and space, and the many distortions within. A Mills College graduate and former resident of the 4D Sound Institute (Budapest), he’s performed at the San Francisco Tape Music Festival, Shanghai Biennale, scored early Chinese silent and science-fiction films, and premiered works at the Locarno (A Tortoise’s Year Of Fate) and Milan Fashion (It Is Not Spring Until All Flowers Blossom) film festivals. He previously maintained radio residencies on The Lot (NY), Internet Public Radio (MX), and Baihui (CN), and currently curates the COSMOS series at the China Center downtown, highlighting sound artists from the Asian diaspora (previous guests include Alex Zhang Hungtai and NOMON).
