Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and composer Joe McPhee will be the special guest on East Village Radio this Friday, October 11th. Since his debut in 1969 with Underground Railroad with Joe McPhee Quartet on CjR, and the stunning follow up, Nation Time in 1971 on the same label, McPhee has made significant contributions to the creative jazz scene with his innovative approach to improvisation and deep emotional expression. Known for his work with an array of instruments, including saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flugelhorn and clarinet, he has released over 60 recordings, exploring concepts like “Po Music,” which combines creativity with theoretical insights.
Joe will share his unique perspectives and insights, as we select some pieces from his deep repertoire. This is a rare opportunity to hear from a true pioneer in the genre. Don’t miss it! Tune in to The East Village Radio Jazz Show on 10/11 at 2PM, or check back and listen to the archived show soon!
