New Hosts Sailing This Month on EVR

As we continue to bring up the curtain, we’ve got some excellent new shows joining the lineup: Desert City, hosted by DJ Who Cares, takes the weekly Thursday 8-10am slot. He may not be the most affable fella you wanna be stranded in Joshua Tree with when your car konks out (he will likely blame you and hog the water), but his arid soundscapes and twangy selections are your perfect soundtrack accompaniment to being feasted on by coyotes. Also check out Free Folk Lowlife with Matt ‘MV’ Valentine, the third Wednesday of the month at 10am. Acclaimed musician (MV & EE, Wet Tuna, Tower Recordings), Matt beams from a Vermont rural locale to present amazing fractured folk and psychedelic obscurities to dazzle. On Elia Vs ?. (alternating Thursdays 2-4pm starting 8/22) our host is joined by a who’s who of music legends, underground geniuses, and the folks behind your favorite record labels and cultural institutions for a deep dive into a new theme each episode. Founders of the Penny Farm with The Hefker Girl (alternating Thursdays at noon) showcases the infusion of UK sound, spilling into other genres such as jungle, street soul, and dub. Also new and alternating Saturday nights at 10pm is Downtown Saturday Night, with special guests and classic tracks from downtown New York’s past, present and future, hosted by Max Gordon. And starting Sunday the 25th Tough Love with Henley checks in weekly. Put your coffee on and tune in for two hours of twang. Songs fit for loving, crying, walking on a slant, and getting wild.
