Ritmo’s Eddie Palmieri Tribute August 10th

We’ve lost the great legend Eddie Palmieri, and DJ C Town and DJ Media Mail will be paying homage on Ritmo on Sunday, August 10th at Noon ET (archived shortly after). Palmieri appeared on the scene in 1961 adding heft to traditional bigband sounds with Conjunto La Perfecta, going on to fuse his Puerto Rican sound identity into a myriad of forms that included American jazz, Brasilian and Cuban influences to revolutionize/modernize Latin music with a firm foot planted in history. He’s once appeared as a guest on East Village Radio’s Bobbito Garcia Radio Show on November 11, 2013, and you can find an excerpt on You Tube. RIP Eddie.
