Sachiko Kanenobu with The Encyclopedia Esoterica October 12th

Sachiko Kanenobu was said to be the first Japanese female singer/songwriter directly influenced by Western folk-rock conventions: Joni Mitchell, Pentangle, Donovan all played into a wonderful 1972 release Misora, reissued in the recent decade by Chapter Music as well as Light In The Attic Records. A marvelous recording, her relocation to California and surreal career trajectory (she af one point enlisted Philip K. Dick to produce her!) and her re-emergence has seen her share bills and collaborate with the likes of Steve Gunn and Yo La Tengo. Her October 7th return to NYC at Le Poisson Rouge coincides with a guest appearance on EVR’s Encyclopedia Esoterica program with Magnetic Dog on Saturday, October 12th 10am ET  where she chats, shares stories and favorite songs, and performs! (Apologies on Tuesday’s airing truncated due to an issue with the stream beyond our control!)
