Mortiis Spreads His Wings Over Grave Convulsions September 8

The name Mortiis looms large in the underground. A founding member of Norwegian black metal titans Emperor, Mortiis laid the foundation for what we call dungeon synth today with his earliest solo recordings. After years of stylistic evolution, Mortiis is revisiting his Era I material on a North American tour performing his 1994 debut LP Født til å herske. With the tour hitting Le Poisson Rouge in Manhattan on September 8, Mortiis spoke to Grave Convulsions host Anthony Bartkewicz about his return to the dungeon, and selected a wide range of songs that impacted his musical journey—from black and death metal, to grindcore and punk, to synthesizer pioneers and beyond. Hear the interview Sunday, September 8, 6-8pm ET, only on East Village Radio, and follow Grave Convulsions on Instagram @grave_convulsions.
