This Friday, October 30th 12-2pm ET on Two Hours In Tongues on EVR, Mister Mike will be joined in the booth by Oren Ambarchi for a discussion and exploration of his vast body of work in advance of a pair of live appearances in NYC over the weekend.
Oren Ambarchi is an Australian multi-instrumentalist whose practice centers on the extended possibilities of the guitar. A prolific solo artist and consummate collaborator, he has performed and recorded with a diverse array of artists across three decades — notably with Charlemagne Palestine, his ongoing trio with Keiji Haino and Jim O’Rourke, Sunn O))), Z’EV, Merzbow, Attila Csihar, and the Ghosted trio, to name a few.
His output includes albums on Drag City, Touch, PAN, Editions Mego and his own Black Truffle label, each record demonstrating a slippery capacity for stylistic shapeshifting while retaining his singular musical language.
This fall he releases Prophetic Perfect Tense on Kou Records. Since 2009 he has run Black Truffle Records, an Australian label for experimental, improvised, and unclassifiable music, with over 150 releases to date. (photo by Pieter Kers)
